Matthew farms with his family, and in cooperation with two other families, at Ploughshares Community Farm, near Beausejour, MB. Their farm includes dairy goats, laying hens, and certified organic grain production, as well as gardens that play a large part in filling the pantry and root cellar.
After graduating from the University of Manitoba’s agriculture program in 2005 he worked as a climate change specialist with the provincial department of agriculture for more than decade. During that time he became aware of the NFU’s in-depth policy analysis on climate change, the farm profitability crisis, and other issues. The NFU’s impressive work on so many key issues led him to join in 2022.
